There are many ways that individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations can support the “Building for Our Future” capital campaign.
Outright Cash Gifts
Cash gifts may be made in a single payment or a multi-year pledge (up to two years). The donor designates the annual payment date on their commitment form, which may be obtained by Jim Strawn & Company (the campaign coordinators.)
Leadership pledges are frequently paid with long-term capital gain securities. Gifts of securities often provide donors with attractive income tax benefits. Appreciated assets enable donors to leverage their philanthropic commitments significantly. Donors can either sign over stock papers or arrange an electronic stock transfer. By donating appreciated securities (stocks, mutual funds), you may receive gift credit and an immediate tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of the transfer, no matter what you originally paid for them.
Corporate Matching Gifts
You or your spouse may work for a company or serve on a corporate board that has a matching gift program. Donors who work for such a company can double, or sometimes triple, their contribution. Every company’s matching gift program is different; Please contact your company’s human resources office to determine if your company has a matching gift program and how you can leverage your personal gift to the hospital campaign. Donors who want to leave a lasting legacy in Pocahontas County can make a significant gift that permanently names either a hospital wing or the entire facility. A limited number of naming opportunities are available. Please see our naming opportunities insert for more information.

How do I write out my check?
Checks should be made payable to Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation (GVCF), the fiduciary partner of Pocahontas Memorial Hospital. GVCF is a non-profit organization that serves the Greenbrier Valley (Greenbrier, Monroe and Pocahontas counties) to manage charitable contributions and manage funds. PMH has partnered with GVCF for our “Building on Our Past, Building for Our Future” campaign. Mail your check to: Greenbrier Valley, Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1682, Lewisburg, WV 24901. In the memo line, please write PMH campaign.

Is my campaign gift tax deductible?
Yes! Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, which serves as the fiduciary partner for PMH, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Therefore, contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Please speak with your accountant if you need to determine the level that your gift is tax deductible.
